Padel in the Nordics

The figures mentioned in a survey performed by Deloitte and Playtomic are very encouraging to the sport. This blog post will focus on the growth of Padel in the Nordic/Scandinavian countries.

In Sweden, Denmark, Finland, or Norway, padel is experiencing incredible growth compared to other European countries. However, the nordics are not yet up to scratch with Padel centers and shops, but the growth they are experiencing is unprecedented and certainly the strongest.

Sweden: empty premises converted into clubs padel !

Between 2019 and 2021, Scandinavia saw a boom in padel clubs. The figures are listed below:

  • Sweden - 320%
  • Denmark - 400%
  • Finland - 410%

In terms of courts, the numbers are astounding:

  • Denmark - 380%
  • Finland - 581%
  • Norway - 867%

In order to compare it to another country, France has only seen 181 new padel centers and a 54% increase in courts.

But what has contributed to this growth? The amount of investment that Padel has seen is truly astonishing. We're seeing multi-billion dollar hedge funds cashing in on the growth, private investors and even tech entrepreneurs making waves within the space.

A whopping €80,000,000 has been invested into padel by Swedish investors. Finland has seen €16,500,000 and Denmark with €5,500,000
