The 2023 Volt Padel Range
Hailing from Porto, Portugal, Volt broke into the padel market in 2016 with a clear vision on what they wanted to achieve. Volt's vision is to create a better balance between quality and design and this year they have done it again!
We have been examining the Volt Padel range very closely across all of the models and bags they have come out with this year and we have been blown away. We believe that Volt is one of the few brands out there that truly, deeply cares about the products they launch into the market.
We'll start with the entry level rackets and then work our way up to Agustin Silingo's Volt 1000.
Volt 500
The Volt 500 is the brands entry level racket and at first glance, we can see it's a control orientated padel racket due to its round face. One of the first things we noticed is that this year, Volt has opted to use dark military like green for the entirety of the racket with a dark grey V's running across the face of the racket. The Volt logo and model designation has a nice contrasting colour of Orange and White to really bring some vibrance to the information present on the face.
Lastly on the appearance, both the frame and face have the reliable 3K Carbon fibre to help it keep its rigidity and feel for the ball.
A closer look at the racket shows the sandy surface that is used for more grip and control. Pairing this with the control face and fast recovery EVA will make this a durable racket for those looking for a beginner racket that will stand the test of time and see the player through to a high intermediate level.
The weight of this racket ranges between 345g and 365g depending on how many grips you put on it.
Playing with this racket is an experience that was very new to us. The racket is so forgiving, letting you play a delicate game of padel but at the same time able to keep up with the most demanding points that could happen in any game situation.
The manoeuvrability, comfort and control this padel racket gives its user is superb and we can confidently say that this surpasses the famous Nox ML10 in terms of performance and quality to make it one of the best all round rackets available to buy right now.
Volt 700
The Volt 700 is the brands entry level teardrop shaped racket. Similar to the Volt 500, Volt has used a sandy face and a dark blue/grey colour combined with a white and neutral colour for the Volt logo and model designation.
With a head heavy balance that tilts the scales to be in favour of power over control, this racket is designed for demanding players looking to achieve more power in their shots.
The weight of this racket comes in at 350g to 370g making it a very manoeuvrable racket for those who like to be able to guide a racket around to achieve the best possible connection with the ball.
Playing with this racket is a great experience. The lightness combined with the power aspect makes it a very very comfortable racket for all skill levels. Although it is a teardrop shape, the trade-off between control and power is not as extreme as other rackets within the same price and performance bracket. This is primarily down to the use of the same grade carbon that the Volt 500, the always reliable 3K carbon.
Volt 800
Now, the Volt 800 was the actually one of the best rackets we tested in the range and overall this year. Everything about this racket impressed us, the design, the weight, the stiffness and the ability to adapt to any situation. This padel racket is designed for a control focussed player as the round face suggests, but can also suit an aggressive attacking player.
From the start, the sleekness of the design seriously impressed us. The round face padel racket features the same 3K carbon that is found on the previous two models but this racket sandwiches the Fast Recovery Black EVA Core between its two carbon faces making it a springy and reactive racket when it needs to be.
The satin black face has a smooth textured face, making it a unique racket to the touch. Pairing the aforementioned colour with a vibrant yellow works! The Volt logo is in the same colour as Volt's branding.
The Volt 800 comes in between 350g and 370g however, after playing with it, this padel racket moves around like one that is much much lighter. This allows you to reduce the strain on your arm and reduce the possibility of tennis elbow.
Volt 900
The Volt 900 is the brands advanced hybrid shaped racket and the racket that is sported by the famous Ana Catarina Nogueira when it comes to the padel tours. Volt has again used the sandy face that is found on both the Volt 500 and the Volt 700 to ensure that the players are getting all the grip from the face of the racket in order to maximise the spin and contact with the ball.
The Volt 900 padel racket is designed for players who are looking for a balance between power and control. The 3K carbon face and body, paired with the Fast Recovery Black EVA core plays a huge part in the high paced, quick points when padel players are battling it out at the net. However, once the point slows down and the chiquita's and fake smashes start appearing, the Volt 900 is able to slow itself down and handle itself very well due to the balance between control and power that is aided by its hybrid shape.
