The BIG debate: Adidas Adipower or Metalbone?

We've been in the midst of trying to ascertain which models are better, some say the Adipowers and others say the Metalbones. After a few weeks of use and testing, we're here to offer our opinion on the matter.

At first, it's difficult to position yourself and choose between the models. But with extensive testing, we will get to the bottom of it.

Adidas Metalbone vs Adidas Adipower Padel Racket

So, Adipower or Metalbone?

You can separate the two into completely different categories, which is actually quite complimentary. However, there are some similarities.

On the one hand, there are the models that have fibreglass faces (the LITE models) for those who are looking for a more comfortable playing style and better ball output. This series actually comes in at a more affordable price range too, helping the player benefit from the brands materials.

Now, we have the Metalbone range. Mountains of technology and complex composite materials which have been carefully designed to give you the perfect weight and balance through the use of the customisable weight system.

Finally, the famous Adipower range, an excellent selection of rackets with clear features that have proven themselves in the past, and once again, confirm the leadership of the brand with the 3 stripes.

The Verdict

We listed the rackets we tested below:

Now, after multiple arguments, debates and mediations we have ranked our favourite rackets from the tested range and this is what we FINALLY agreed on.

1st place - Adidas Adipower 3.1 CTRL

adidas

In first place, we have the Adipower 3.1 CTRL. The amount of control this racket has is great, with its large sweet spot this makes this racket incredibly forgiving and packed full with an abundance of power.

2nd Place - Metalbone 3.1 CTRL

adidas

After a long debate, this ended up being the preferred model to Metalbone diamond. This is purely down to the power gained by the latter is negligible compared to the superior manoeuvrability offered by the CTRL.

3rd Place - Adidas Adipower 3.1 Lite

adidas

This was a surprising contestant. We expected this to be a soft, delicate racket aimed at people who didn’t take the game too seriously and just wanted comfort. However, we were so so so wrong. This racket blew us out of the water with its capabilities.

With its lightness and power, this makes this racket a very good option for those who want a solid balance between power and control.

A softer foam is used than the 3.1 CTRL, stiffer faces (24K) for a mini weight, it is the queen of precision and manoeuvrability. This racket used by Martita Ortega will delight control freaks and help you get the ball where you want it.
