Wilson Bela Pro V2

Back with its second signature collection, Wilson has invited us to preview the Bela Pro V2 racket. The padel racket, designed in collaboration with Wilson Advisory Staff Fernando “Bela” Belasteguín, offers improved performance and unexpected design improvements.

But what are the unexpected design improvements? We'll delve deeper into that now.

Players can expect to benefit from an expanded sweetspot and Wilson's SpinEffect texture, which provides a more consistent feel and better control across the surface of the racquet. The Bela Pro is the racquet of choice for players of padel offensive with its 3K primero carbon faces and its EVA Hard foam.

One of the first observations are the hole patterns we can see on the face. There is an outer ring and an inner rectangular concentration in the middle. From first impressions, we can see that where the holes are concentrated in the middle is the sweet spot. I would assume this is to maximise contact with the ball and generate more power. 

On the other hand, the outer ring of holes looks like there are much more spaced out. Once again I would think that this is due to to help dispersing the power when mishitting a ball, making the racket more forgivable on the outer edges.

This is a great quote from one of the Padel G.O.A.T's. Which brings me to dive deeper into the reason behind Bela choosing the colour red. 

In my experience, the color red has various religious and symbolic meanings.

Red is associated with various elements, from blood, fire and rage, to love, passion, and courage. This color is all about extremes and forces that drive us towards our passion. 

Red also has a historical significance, Romans, Mayans and Egyptians warriors, usually wore red or coloured their body in red to celebrate victory in war. Red color quotes are all about strong emotions and inspiring words. So here is a collection of quotes that have all these elements, from art quotes to quotes about red dresses; this list has it all.

I think it's fair to say that all of the above emotions can all be felt when playing padel. Whether it's a love for the game, competing for a title or pushing yourself to learn to use the wall a bit better. 

I'd love to see more emotion be transferred into the design of some padel rackets, the ones which have a story to tell as to why they are a certain shape, material and design.
