Drop Shot Conqueror 9.0 Pro Padel Racket 2021 Review

The release of Drop Shot's Conqueror 9.0 happened to make a lot of noise, but why?

Simple! On the one hand, for the unmatched quality of such a high-grade racket, which expertly embraces all the latest technologies of the Spanish company Drop Shot in terms of ball control and shot quality.

On the other hand because, in the end, we always look out for the top player's weapons of choice. This year, this racket will be used by Juan Martin Diaz. An icon of modern Padel and absolute star for almost fifteen years, of the highest level with his partner Fernando "Bela" Belasteguìn. They are a powerful set of partners who will play to the end of their able careers, 170 tournaments won (out of the 191 played) and with an unbeaten run of almost 2 years and 23 stages of the Pro Padel Tour (before the WPT was a thing) won consecutively. In short, if Bela is the Pele of Padel, El Galleguito is closer to Maradona, if "Bela" is Cristiano Ronaldo, Diaz is his current alter-ego, he is the Lionel Messi of the padel.

Naturally, the racket that will be handled by a modern-day living legend is always accompanied by a solid marketing campaign. The annual racket updates stem from the feedback of multiple sources and each model represents some sort of technological upgrade from the previous one.

How about we see what is new on the Conqueror 9.0?

It goes without saying that the racket that Juan Martin Diaz will have is the Top of Drop Shot's range as the ultimate pro padel racket.

Let's start with the shape, the tear drop shape has been refined and is aimed at more advanced players looking for a racket that is more inclined to power rather than control. Don't be concerned about losing control however, this racket keeps that ability strongly built in to its frame. You will not be sacrificing control to smash the life out of that lob that came a bit too short.

Next up is the frame and the materials used. Once again, 24K Carbon is primarily used throughout the racket that contains a bi-tubular carbon frame, making it light yet tough to contact with other players and the dreaded glass crashes you will eventually commit. The carbon has been developed and intertwined in three distinct directions (Triaxial Carbon). For those of you wondering what this means 🤨  it basically tells us that the weavings of the carbon have been structured in such a way to disperse the force of a shot away from the face.

The core is made up of EVA super soft rubber that is there to cushion the shots and reduce vibration. Good news is, this feature helps those susceptible to tendonitis lower their chances of injury. Furthermore, the cork handle is a life saver and a great way to integrate an anti-vibration technology in such a simple yet effective way by using cork.

We can't forget to touch on the 3D face. The small lumps on the face of the racket help grip the ball better, so slices and shots are more controlled. You really are in control with this racket.

We have to emphasise on the quality and robustness this racket boasts. Whoever is looking to buy this racket will certainly be investing in a long term racket, it can definitely guarantee solid duration over a long time and withstand many many games.

Our verdict

The technologies and components that have gone into this racket are certainly impressive. From the Triaxial Carbon to the cork.

I think Drop Shot should be flattered and end their day with blushing cheeks because we have nothing but good things to say about this racket. One of the best rackets on the market at the moment and at a very favourable price putting rackets in higher brackets to shame. Well worth the purchase.
